Project Officer Jobs in Kenya (5 Positions)
Reporting to: Project Coordinator
Location: Kisumu, Kenya or in any of the 4 sub counties: Kuria East; Migori; Siaya and Homa Bay.
Duration: 1 year
Purpose of the Role
To provide administrative and programme support for the implementation of the UK Government-funded Transition phase of the Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC T) project , which will address barriers to education of girls with disability in the project schools.
Project Officer Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining project deliverables under the direction of the Project Coordinator and the management team as a whole.

- Coordinate medical and educational assessments of children with disabilities and facilitate their enrolment in school
- Ensure the involvement of families and communities, particularly males, in the implementation of project activities
- Support the organization and implementation of community awareness raising events and community-based training workshops
- Gather and report on data against the project’s indicators, particularly those in the logframe
- Monitor project progress, achievements and challenges
- Assist in a variety of administrative duties including disseminating project information to stakeholders and arranging logistics for meetings, training workshops and other project-related events
- Participate in networking activities
- Ensure compliance with LCD’s child protection policy and procedures and report any concerns to the relevant individuals and authorities
- Ensure full compliance with the GEC T grant holders’ manual
- Supervise the Education Social Worker in the subcounty you will be working in.
- Develop and maintain good relations with the project partners, the government and other stakeholders involved in the project.
- Undertake any other relevant tasks as may be assigned by LCD.
Qualifications for the Project Officer Job
Essential- Degree in education, social studies or any other relevant field.
- At least two years’ experience working in development with an NGO and with local communities
- Experience of project cycle management, and monitoring and evaluation
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Excellent report-writing skills.
- Knowledge of disability issues and the Kenyan education system
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and other key data processing software
- Leadership skills
- Experience of working with children with disabilities
- Sign language interpretation skills
- Ability to speak the local languages
